- Over the Xmas holiday I obtained an _old_ copy of J.S. Mill's
- _A System of Logic_, both for bibliophilic reasons, and, of course,
- to read it. Obviously, since Mill's _System_ was written, there have
- been plenty of other texts on logic, etc. published - in my discussions
- with my brother-in-law, he suggested Quine, Russell, et al - but I would
- still like to know what is the CW out there for Mill's writings on logic.
- I have read book 6, on the methods of the social sciences, in the past,
- but I am interested in studying the remainder of the text. Is the rest
- of the _System_ read these days? Has it been superseded? Scorned?
- And, if so, why? I don't have time right now to devote myself to this
- book, but I would like to take it up eventually, perhaps later in the
- year. In other words, I would like to know how up-to-date Mill's treatise
- is on *logic* in the eyes of logicians (if it is passe, I will read it
- anyway for my understanding of *Mill*).
-
- Thanks!
-
- p.s. I did not get a response to my query regarding whether or not
- _My Sister & I_, allegedly written by Nietzsche, is a forgery. Does
- anyone out there know for certain on this matter?
