- A posted article at the library indicated that new dating
- of the Siberian Traps (huge layered volcanic deposits similar to the
- Deccan or Columbian traps) puts them at the same time as the
- Permian extinction event, discouraging the asteroid impact hypothesis
- for this particular extinction.

- I think the Permian extinction event was ca. 220 m.y.a. but I can't
- remember now.
