  12. I am currently working on research toward a better predictive theory of
  13. lottery participation.  Surprisingly little has been written on this
  14. subject and what little work I was able to uncover is generally
  15. characterized by weak methodology or an absence of empirical support.  I
  16. started with extensive survey data and found that background (or
  17. demographic) factors explain very little in terms of a given individualâ•’s
  18. involvement in state run lotteries. (i.e. it just isnâ•’t the case that poor
  19. people buy more lottery tickets) Now, I am turning to more qualitative
  20. based interviews in attempt to construct useful categories and for further
  21. data collection efforts.

  23. In addition to my collection of personal interviews I would like to add to
  24. my body of knowledge by soliciting responses to the following
  25. questionnaire. I would appreciate any responses in whatever detail you
  26. have time for.  The questions are not specifically personal in nature,
  27. however feel free to ignore any questions you feel invasive. Also, it goes
  28. without saying that I plan to strip the headers of all replies so as to
  29. ensure anonymity.
