  16. | Unitarian-Universalist Bisexual Network (UUBN) newsletter, published
  17. | occasionally by UUBN.  Send US$10 to UUBN, P.O. Box 10818, Portland,
  18. | Maine 04104, USA, for a membership packet including the newsletter, a
  19. | copy of the _International Directory of Bisexual Groups_ and lots
  20. | more.

  22. UUBN was founded by Alan Hamilton (me, current President of the East
  23. Coast Bisexual Network[ECBN]) and Bobbi Keppel (who is also on the
  24. Board of Directors of ECBN.)

  26. We put out three issues of the newsletter in 1992, mostly talking
  27. about bi issues and our bi activist work in the Unitarian Universalist
  28. Association (UUA.)  When you subscribe, you get a big package which
  29. includes all past newsletters, All of ECBN's pamphlets, and some other
  30. interesting stuff.

  32. To date, Bobbi and I have written almost everything in it, so feel
  33. free to include with your US$10 a note about what it is like for you
  34. being bi, bi issues in the UUA, and being bi in the UUA and UUA
  35. organizations -- such as Young Religious Unitarian Universalists
  36. (YRUU) and Unitarian Universalists for Lesbian and Gay Concerns
  37. (UULGC), telling Bobbi whether or not to include your name if we
  38. publish it.

  40. Highlights of what we have done this year include:
  41.   o Bobbi has developed a presentation of a modification of the Klein
  42. Sexual Orientation Grid which we call the Klein Scale.  It has proved
  43. to be extremely useful in helping people to think more flexibly about
  44. sexual orientation, sexual behavior, and sexual identity, including
  45. loosening up people (lesbian, gay, and straight) who have taken an
  46. anti-bi stance.
  47.   o Bobbi and I wrote a pamphlet (published by ECBN) on _Using the
  48. Klein Scale to Teach about Sexual Orientation_.  If you join UUBN now,
  49. you will get a copy of this and many other pamphlets, which you can
  50. make available in your UU society (either known or anonymously.)
  51.   o Bobbi volunteered as a district trainer for The Welcoming
  52. Congregation (TWC program that the OLGC has developed to help
  53. congregations become more welcoming to lesbian, gay, and bisexual
  54. people.  She did lots of bi consciousness raising at the training
  55. workshop for the district trainers, including her presentation of the
  56. Klein Scale.  Many people remarked that in the future, that should
  57. come first, so that people share a common terminology and framework
  58. for thinking about sexual orientation for the rest of the training.
  59. Get a copy, and consider ensuring that someone does this presentation
  60. near the beginning of any group that will be discussing sexual
  61. orientation.
  62.   o We got _Using the Klein Scale..._ distributed to all TWC district
  63. trainers.
  64.   o Bobbi attended the continental conference of the Liberal Religious
  65. Education Directors Association (LREDA) and did a presentation to the
  66. entire conference
  67.   o Alan is writing another pamphlet, _LesBiGay and Transgender
  68. Glossary_ for distribution to all TWC district trainers, to help
  69. people (especially in UU societies where there are no openly LesBiGay
  70. folks) to learn enough of the vocabulary used in these communities to
  71. be able to talk with people without using totally offensive language
  72. from the oppressive culture.  If you join now, you will get a copy of
  73. this as soon as it is available, which you can make available in your
  74. UU society (either known or anonymously.)
  75.   o Someone has just volunteered to work on a pamphlet on bisexuality
  76. for youth, and I would very much like some YRUU volunteers to work
  77. with this person to ensure that it addresses the important issues.

  79. To volunteer to do some work (writing an article for the UUBN
  80. newsletter; putting out literature at the UULGC conference in Columbus
  81. OH in February; distributing literature in your UU society or district
  82. or your YRUU group or conference, working on a pamphlet on bisexuality
  83. for youth; writing letters to UULGC, OLGC, the UUA President and Board
  84. of Trustees; etc.) or just to connect with me, you can reach me at
