  16. I recently ordered a Powerglove directly from Mattel (1-800-635-5511).
  17. I called them on a lark and was surprised when they told me they were
  18. selling them.  The cost was US$30.00 (including shipping).  According
  19. to what I was told, they have about 80 left.

  21. There are some caveats, however.  First, they required payment in
  22. advance (by _check_; no credit card accepted).  Second, from what I
  23. was told it sounds as if the gloves that remain are reconditioned ones
  24. that were repaired after being sent back by the original purchasers.
  25. Third, the glove they sent me came without instructions; if you order
  26. from them, it would probably be a good idea to explicitly ask that
  27. they send instructions along with the glove.  Fourth, the glove I
  28. received from them didn't work, though they're replacing it for free
  29. and paid for the return postage on the broken one I sent back (maybe
  30. you can get _that_ one :-).  And fifth (don't worry, this is the last
  31. one), I received conflicting information from different operators at
  32. the 800 number concerning whether Mattel is still selling the gloves
  33. to the general public.  In four calls, twice I was told that Mattel is
  34. selling the gloves and twice I was told they aren't.  The last time I
  35. spoke with them, when I was making arrangements to have the defective
  36. glove replaced, I had to press a bit to get the operator to say that
  37. they were still selling the gloves.
