- I recently ordered a Powerglove directly from Mattel (1-800-635-5511).
- I called them on a lark and was surprised when they told me they were
- selling them. The cost was US$30.00 (including shipping). According
- to what I was told, they have about 80 left.
-
- There are some caveats, however. First, they required payment in
- advance (by _check_; no credit card accepted). Second, from what I
- was told it sounds as if the gloves that remain are reconditioned ones
- that were repaired after being sent back by the original purchasers.
- Third, the glove they sent me came without instructions; if you order
- from them, it would probably be a good idea to explicitly ask that
- they send instructions along with the glove. Fourth, the glove I
- received from them didn't work, though they're replacing it for free
- and paid for the return postage on the broken one I sent back (maybe
- you can get _that_ one :-). And fifth (don't worry, this is the last
- one), I received conflicting information from different operators at
- the 800 number concerning whether Mattel is still selling the gloves
- to the general public. In four calls, twice I was told that Mattel is
- selling the gloves and twice I was told they aren't. The last time I
- spoke with them, when I was making arrangements to have the defective
- glove replaced, I had to press a bit to get the operator to say that
- they were still selling the gloves.
-
- If you decide to try out this Powerglove source, others reading
- sci.v-w might like to hear about your experience with them.
-
- Regards,
- Bryan
