  23. Applications and Technology Workshop

  30. Following the success of the first two Australian Multi-Media
  31. Communications, Applications and Technology Workshops, we are pleased
  32. to announce the Third Workshop will be held at the University of
  33. Wollongong on Wednesday, 14th and
  34.  
  35. Thursday, 15th July 1993.  The Workshop will coincide with the
  36. Australian Broadband Switching and Services Symposium (ABSSS) 1993 to
  37. be held at the University from Monday, 12th to Wednesday,
  38. 14th of July 1993.

  40. The two-day Workshop will enable researchers, users, manufacturers and
  41. others with interest in multi-media to meet and exchange information,
  42. discuss applications, and take stock of the latest research and
  43. development in this fast-growing and exciting field. The program is
  44. expected to be complemented by demonstrations of latest equipment from
  45. manufacturers and other organisations.

  47. Papers are invited for presentation in the Workshop in the following
  48. areas:
  49.  
  50.         -       applications of multi-media systems
  51.         -       multi-media communications on existing and future networks
  52.         -       human factors in multi-media interactions
  53.         -       multi-media software developments and utilities
  54.         -       multi-media hardware
  55.         -       standards related to multi-media
  56.         -       miscellaneous topics in multi-media technology
  57.  
  58. Papers will be refereed from extended abstracts.  Authors whose papers
  59. are accepted will be expected to present them in person. The proposed
  60. schedule is as follows:

  62. 12th April 1993         Extended abstracts (500 words) giving results
  63.                         and conclusions
  64.  1st   May 1993         Notification of acceptance
  65.  1st  June 1993         Completed Papers Received
  66.  
  67. A fee of $200 will be charged to cover Workshop Proceedings, morning
  68. and afternoon teas, lunches and organisational expenses.  For those
  69. registering for both MCAT'93 and ABSSS'93, a special combined rate of
  70. $350 will apply.  Discounts will be available for early registration.
  71. A combined ABSSS/MCAT Conference Dinner is being organised.

  73. Demonstrations of equipment or research prototypes are invited and
  74. exhibitors are asked to contact the Workshop Chairman  as soon as
  75. possible for reservation of floor space.  AARNet (Internet) access will be
  76. available.
