  13. In response to Bill Wadge's recent post on Lerner's book:
  14. I haven't read the book and don't know about any specific arguments made
  15. therein, but it would seem that opposition to the big bang would have been
  16. dealt a major blow by this year's results from COBE and recent observations
  17. (by the balloon-based instruments) supporting it.
  18.  Incidentally, I heard a lecture by Michael Turner (the U. Chicago physicist)
  19. at Lawrence Livermore Natl. Lab shortly after the COBE results were made
  20. public, and Turner made several (good-natured and quite funny) pokes at
  21. Lerner's hypothesis, using slides titled "The Big Bang REALLY Happened!" and
  22. the like... :)
