  32. philosophy students (with or without degrees, graduate or undergraduate)
  33. who drop out and live the frugal lifestyle of the classical philosophers --
  34. or something vaguely similar. Surely the PhD's on this newsgroup have
  35. respected friends, former colleagues and students or fellow-students, who
  36. refused "resignation" to any particular social niche and went away to sleep 
  37. on the beach at Key Largo, reading Putnam and watching the sun set, or started
  38. a commune/homestead/truck farm in New Mexico, or something. I am eager to hear 
  39. of anyone who has done such a thing. How do you know them, and how are
  40. they doing?
