- Re the name of Fractint. When I upload the files to SIMTEL I use the
- IBM PC name limitation. I attempt to include the name "FRAINT" in the file
- name and still have the full version number. If the full version number is
- longer, it eats into the name. Finally, I use the ".ZIP" extension. Thus
- for version 17.2 the file name is FRAIN172.ZIP. When version 18 comes out
- (no it is not ready yet!!) the name will be FRAINT18.ZIP.
-
- Of course this is the name for SIMTEL and it's mirrors. Sometimes other
- sites change the name. I upload FRACTINT as a ZIP and not a self-extracting
- archive at the request of Keith Peterson, although in my experience UNIX
- unzippers can handle self-extracting zip files. Finally, the source file
- has a similar naming convention, based on the name FRASRC. Thus the current
- source file name is FRASR172.ZIP.
-
- This is probably more than you wanted to know about this exciting topic! <g!>
