- WANTED: Scientiststists and engineers interested in corresponding with
- eighth graders through e-mail to help answer basic physical science
- questions.
- Just think how exciting it would be for a young person to
- communicate with an academic professional and to solve real life
- science problems that affect our world today! So many youths do
- not realize the importance of math and science or are intimidated
- by the complexities. We need professionals like yourselves, with an open
- mi nd and enthusiasm for teaching, to help out students at Peterson Middle
- School. For just once a month, or however frequently you decide, you
- can commu nicate with one or two students through e-mail.
- Nervous about talking to kids? Don't worry, Bryan Osborne,
- the Peterson Middle School science teacher, will provide you with some
- helpful guidelines and ideas that have proved very successful with
- past volunteers. His "Helping Hands" program (corresponding by
- e-mail) is growing rapidly with the need for more volunteer
- mentors to correspond with the interested students.
- Feel free to send him a message at bosborn@eis.calstate.edu, or
- call him at 408-720-8540.
