Your problem is one that we have come across continually. We use to run ABAQUS
on a VAX/VMS and currently have it available on a Decstation 5000 for UNIX.
Fortunately we have our own in-house Finite Element code which overcomes all the problems of ABAQUS. It has been difficult to persuade people around here to
stop using ABAQUS. Some of our clients were trying to solve large deformation
problems and found that ABAQUS would not work. Good Luck!!
