- I take an old tape, or a good commercial tape, and, with head phones on,
- turn the treble all the way up and the bass all the way down, and turn
- off the noise reduction, turn the volume up, and adjust for maximum
- hiss (noise), ie adjust so you can hear the high frequencies the best.

- I end up braketing a 1/4 turn segment (rotating the screw quickly) that
- contains the best segment, and set it for the center of that range.
