- You may want to look real close at the oiginal lube used on those...
- It's a grease! By using a liquid cleaner & lube , you washed away the grease.

- I had a similar problem with aluminum pots ( shaft and bushing = aluminum)
- which had a very thick, sticky grease fo 'lube'.

- I'd say to not clean the bearing surfaces....just the wiper/resistive element.
