- Well, I've read all the postings on what might happen if a car with a
- flywheel power supply were to crash. Unless catastrophic failure can be
- avoided entirely, I would guess that flywheel power sources will be used
- mainly to assist batteries with high specific energy, but low specific
- power.

- A flywheel can be floated across the battery, providing high power when
- needed, and being spun up again during periods of low power demand. In
- this use the flywheel will only be a tiny fraction of the size
- contemplated in an all mechanical system, and the kinetic energy
- dissipated during a failure will be correspondingly low.
