- 110 is "safer", 220 lets them use lower guage wiring (aka
- CHEAPER). My house is wired for both (US). Of course the
- arc welder and air compressor use that. The electric range
- though is gone. 220 is great for high power devices (5kw arc
- welder 3hp air compressors and killowatt ranges). 110 can be
- easily derived from 110.
