- My dad owns a TV set with a faulty remote control. Certain keys started
- falling off after years of heavy use, so recently I took out the
- circuit board and put it inside a home-brewn (and rather clumsy) keyboard.
-
- It works, but it's not as convenient as the original thing, and I
- doubt this Philips device of 1984 is still available through retailers.
-
- Now I've got two questions:
-
- Does anyone know if different Philips IR remote controls from the
- 80's with "text" functions use similar IR signals and message
- encoding techniques?
-
- Also, I've seen that there are IR controls available that can record
- other IR controls' signals and keep the function set of many different
- controls in them. Is it likely that such an all-round control with the
- ability to "learn" new signals will be able to record our old device's
- signal?
-
- Thanks in advance,
- Anders Skelander
