- As a data point, here in the Columbia River Girl Scout Council, we
- take Brownies (grades 1-3, ages 6-9) camping. Usually at established
- properties though. We spent a weekend at the Scout House in Seaside
- (on the Oregon coast), and have been on campouts at our Council's
- resident camp. We do seem to spend a lot of our time cooking, but that
- will improve with time (probably about Junior High age!)
-
- Actually the girls are now Junior Girl Scouts (grades 4-6, ages 10-12),
- and it seems to be easier. They are toying with the idea of doing a
- long weekend in the San Juan Islands in June. They will get to camp
- in tents, which we haven't done yet. Maybe they will all earn their
- Outdoor Cook badge, and the cooking will be less stressful.
