- Hello Bob (and hello Net People, since I'm posting this on rec.scouting)
-
- Happy New Year to you, too! and Happy '93 to all people on the Net!
-
- I just made my pack program for '93, and boy, I've never had such a
- crammed year. As we decided to do more joint events between the pack
- and the troop, we'll have one additional camp and two more weekends
- than usual.
-
- But I'm happy about it. On the kids' level, it removes the fright
- from the passage to the 'big ones', and on the leader level it helps
- pack and troop leaders to understand each other's (sometimes very
- different) primary issues and concerns and, in the end effect, to
- help each other in their task.
-
- I can recommend to any unit leader to cooperate with his parent
- unit. In the end effect, it mainly brings advantages. It doesn't
- come for free, though. It costs time, and sometimes a lot of nerves
- and patience, but it's definitely worth every drop of sweat.
-
- Scout troop leaders, will see the percentage of "losses" in their
- new arrivals decrease significantly. Cub pack leaders will get
- understanding and active help from the troops, in all areas where
- such help is needed. Finding new kids for example, providing den
- leaders (in the BSA: den leader assistants), giving a hand in the
- program, and so on.
-
- It's not very warm in Zurich either, although the temperature
- hasn't gone below 0 degrees Farenheit yet (-20 Celsius). We have a
- few places where -40 is the rule at this time of the year, but they
- are in far more rural areas.
-
- What does "Trainer III" in your signature mean?
-
- YiS,
