- Yes, they most likely are asbestos. The rule for mechanics seems only
- to be not to use compressed air to clean the parts. However, that
- seems a bit liberal. In places that can take it, spraying a light
- mist of water, maybe mixed with a detergent as a wetting agent over
- the dust to prevent its getting airborn. Spraying over the dust and
- letting it settle is probably the best approach. I believe that this
- is roughly the method used by hazardous waste cleaners.

- Note that the dust masks in hardware stores are generally nuisance
- masks and are not sufficient to deal with asbestos.
