  11.     I just replaced the wheel bearing assembly on my '90 Cavalier. My son 
  12. hit the curb and bent the rim and wrecked the bearing giving me the
  13. dubious opportunity to find out that you don't just replace the bearing
  14. but the complete hub unit ($114 Cdn inc. tax :-(). Two of my manuals
  15. give instructions on replacing the bearing unit and everything went fine
  16. until I tried to replace the seal and o-ring in the steering knuckle.
  17. This seal pushes in from the back of the knuckle but the end of the drive
  18. shaft is projecting through the knuckle effectively stopping me from 
  19. slipping the seal into the back. I can't move the drive shaft back far
  20. enough to allow access to the rear of the steering knuckle without removing
  21. the knuckle itself.
  22.     Am I missing something? I don't want to have this expensive bearing
  23. unit fail because of corrosion because I didn't replace a cheap seal.
