- The following Japanese courses will be offered this semester from Penn Language
- Center:

- I. Introduction to Japanese I (Monday & Wednesday/6:30-9:00pm)

- Prerequisite: mastery of Japanese orthography (katakana and hiragana)

- Textbook: Japanese for Busy People (Kodansha International)
-
- This class is an non-intensive Japanese class, covering a basic
- Japanese grammar with an emphasis on conversation. Although it is a
- continuation of the same class from the last semester, it is open to
- anyone who meets the above prerequisite (or anyone who can catch up
- with it!).

- II. Business Japanese I (Tuesday & Thursday/6:30-8:45pm)

- Prerequisite: At least 2 years of college-level Japanese or equivalent

- Texbook: Nihongo de Business ("Business in Japanese") (Nichibei Kaiwa
- Gakuin)

- In this course, we will focus on learning Japanese conversation in
- business settings. Aside from typical interactions in office
- situations, negotiations, meetings, etc., we will also learn to make
- reports and using Japanese wordprocessors. The class will have several
- talks by Japanese businessmen about the actual business situations in
- the area. Each students are to make two short presentations about some topics
- related to Japanese business.
