- Probably the average total tax hit per person. Some national
- magazine just came out with data that Oregonians rank 7th in the
- nation in this. That is, the sum of all property, income and other
- state and local taxes in the state ranks us 7th in total tax burden
- per capita.
-
- Of course the governor and others who want more tax money respond
- with the information that we really aren't that bad because we tax
- higher income people more so the average Joe isn't hit that hard.
- Barb and her bunch miss (possibly deliberatly) the point that the
- state's total income is much higher than the national average. In
- spite of the reduction in property taxes our state and local
- governments (combined) have more money per capita than 42 of the
- other 49 states. Their pleas of government poverty don't get any
- sympathy from me.
