- In CA, you can contact the Department of Forestry and buy seedlings from
- them, so I assume you should be able to do this where you are. Normally,
- then only sell to those people doing replanting of hillsides and such and
- are not concerned with commercial nurseries. They will send you a list
- of commercial nuseries that sell different quantities than they do. I
- went through them to get 500 2-year old redwood saplings (bareroot). They
- cost me $100 and I signed that they were going on my land. Unfortunately,
- I've lost nearly half to drought and such over the last three years. I
- still have to water them during the summer which is also part of the deal
- since they may come and inspect what you've done - doubtful since small
- one-time purchases probably don't mean that much to them and there is
- little chance of fraud. Normal quantities are 50, 100, 500, and 1000
- unit lots - depends on the species involved.
