- At a recent auction, I bid on and won an auction lot that included some software. Just for
- the record, the docs for this software came in some really spiffy binders. That was what I
- actually was bidding on. I had no idea what the software actually was. So anyway, with
- finals and the holidays I just let it all sit until this week. When I looked at the
- software, lo! It was all marked "Dealer copy--not for Resale". So, I called the company and
- found out a bit about the software and what it was worth. Turns out my $4 binders retail for
- about $17000. Ok, so I was already sitting down, which was good. Now, you can probably
- already see what the question is. Oh, one more point, the auction was a out-of-business
- auction. So, what's my position? Can I sell this software? I wouldn't misrepresent it, but
- I don't feel that I am bound to not sell it, since I am not a dealer. Anyway, I am not quite
- sure where I stand, and would welcome input.
