  12. Hey, you C, C++, or Windows programmers out there!  Yes, the grand 
  13. daddy of all IBM PC c++ compilers, Borland c++ 3.1, can be yours for 
  14. a lot less than list or store prices.

  16. When I ordered my PC, I also ordered this compiler, but it took the 
  17. company an extra three months to get it.  In the mean time, I bought the 
  18. first one that came out in the software store near me, and the sticker 
  19. price was $350.

  21. Well, that was a few months ago, and this is STILL the latest, most 
  22. expensive, most complete c++ compiler Borland makes for the PC.  
  23. Realize, it is 100% unused, unopened, and the manuals are in their 
  24. shrink wrap as are the disks.

  26. That software store is STILL selling this package for $350.  Borland's 
  27. list price is STILL $495.  What is my price?  $180+Shipping.  That's 
  28. it.  So if you were planning on getting this product from a store, hold 
  29. off.  It comes with a registration card and all that stuff, and most 
  30. software stores will not accept returns or exchanges on opened software 
  31. anyway, so there's no reason not to buy it from me at a ridiculous 
  32. savings.

  34. In case you are unfamiliar with what this top of the line compiler is, 
  35. here is a summary:
  36. * True ANSI c/c++ Dos/Windows compiler (fastest on the market)
  37. * Inline and external assembler provided (up through the 486)
  38. * Profiler included for timing function calls
  39. * Debugger/disassembler included
  40. * Multicolored c-syntax intelligent editor with extensive help
  41. * Windows 3.1 versions of these as well
  42.   (edit, compile, run, and debug from within Windows)
  43. * Windows resource editor, better than anything made by Microsoft
  44. * Borland's container class libraries for extending c++
  45. * Support files, and examples for multimedia in Windows 3.1
  46. * On-line help version of almost the entire Windows 3.1 SDK
  47. * Nine physical manuals, fifteen 5.25" diskettes

  49. What this has over other versions of c++ made by Borland:
  50. * Pre-compiled headers work flawlessly with no extra effort
  51. * Color c-syntax highlighting
  52. * Resource editor more complete, less bugs, includes Borland's
  53.   NeXT-style custom resources
  54. * Can Optimize for the 386, using extended registers
  55. * Comes with profiler and assembler and profiler and class libs
  56. * Debugger has the unexecute instruction feature
  57. * Full Windows 3.1 (not just 3.0) support
  58. * Comes with a Widows sample program called chess, which is better 
  59.   than many other commercial chess programs I have seen.  It has pretty 
  60.   graphics and plays well (even has an opening move library).  It runs in 
  61.   the background in Windows, and by itself could probably be sold for 
  62.   $100.  You get the source code and everything here for it.

  64. If you are comparing prices, make sure you realize this product is 
  65. Borland c++3.1, not 3.0, and not turbo c.  This version is the real thing, 
  66. the full-blown professional package.
