  13. There was a discussion on patents on the newsgroup recently. Does anyone 
  14. have any first hand experience with "Advanced Patent Services"? One of my 
  15. friends feels he has a good idea and has already had the above company
  16. do the initial patent search and market survey for him for a fee of $200.
  17. I think they have done a good job. Now they are asking for a fee (I don't 
  18. remember the exact numbers, but they are close) in the range $4900-$7900 for 
  19. filing the patent. The fee my friend is willing to pay determines the 
  20. commission they will get when the product sells in the market. The commission 
  21. starts at 1.5% (if my friend pays $7900 now) and rises to 12% (if he pays 
  22. $4900) with 4 other options in between. I personally find it strange that 
  23. there is such a large difference in commission with a difference of just 
  24. $3000 towards the patent filing fee the company is charging.
