- With many of these smaller fire extinguishers on the market for home use,
- buying a new extinguisher usually costs far less than recharging the old one.
-
- By the way... I had posted earlier that I had a Kidde extinguisher which had
- leaked all of the propellant out, and that I had broken the top off and used
- the agent by itself. I don't really advise this because
- 1) The stem or valve might be clogged
- 2) The pressure indicator might be jammed or otherwise not functional
- 3) The agent might have solidified
-
- In all cases, pressure could still be in the body of the extinguisher. If you
- were to break off the stem of the extinguisher with unknown pressure in the
- extinguisher, the extinguisher could explode and become a projectile or a bomb,
- either way, possibly causing injury or death. So, DON'T BREAK OF THE NECK!
- I was lucky there WAS NO pressure in the extinguisher, or I may not have
- fingers to type with now.
-
- If you have problems with your fire extinguishers, write to the company and get
- a replacement or a refund. Don't play it stupid like I did, you might get hurt.
