- IJG>John posted some pretty good hints. Thanks for the input.
- IJG>So, let's hear it - Fido people, CAN you send personal email? If
- not,
- IJG>*please* (I am attempting to be polite in the hopes of convincing
- IJG>people) use the format suggested. Maybe there is another newsgroup
- that
- IJG>you all can subscribe to to transmit your messages.
-
- Hmmm... It seems to me that this problem is really a matter of opinion.
- I will agree with you that many messages are very personal in nature
- but
- most that seem personal do contain valuable information that many
- others
- find useful. I also think you should be a little more tolerant of
- people
- forced to use a system with many limitations rather than look down upon
- us Fidonet Users. As far as personal mail goes, we can use netmail,
- however this is not available to everybody since this feature is
- provided by BBS'es as they see fit sometimes at a large cost. I also
- think the problem might be the word 'newsgroup' as used by Internet &
- Bitnet giving it a much more 'official' tone. Speaking for myself I
- have
- always felt this echo-newsgroup to be a forum for Firefighter, EMT's &
- Paramedics to discuss issues and exchange information about emergency
- services (formally or not so formally). You might also want to direct
- your opinions/complaints to Chuck Sanders who is the moderator of this
- group (at least on the FidoNet side) and maybe a clarification of the
- rules may be posted on a more frequent basis.
-
- Back on the topic (so this won't be construed as a personal message):
- Do you folks run ALS at CMU and do you cover any areas off campus. I
- attended CMU back in '85 as a summer student and didn't even know they
- had an ambulance. Are you folks part of a regular 911 system or campus
- only? Any information (especially in detail) would be appreciated and
- used in an in-house newsletter (with your persmission). Thanks in
- advance.
