- It is an interesting topic. Although Personally I would not feel to
- "comforted" by this, It has been my experience that in countries and
- cultures in which sex is thought of as an open subject, there seems to be
- less sex-related tension and problems. Such would include Europian
- countries in which sex is not considered a "Taboo" and in which nudity,
- and sex are not prevented from public television. The Eureans seems
- to have more openness, and thus their youth, does not put such placement
- on sex as Americans tend to. After all, if you are prevented from knowing
- anything about sex, and your parents and all keep your eyes closed, as
- soon as you have the chance you will try to experiment and discover the
- joys of the "Mystic Taboo". This in my opinion is the root of our
- problem. You take a high schooler that has been tought not to say any
- sexual words, has never seen or known about the opposite sex and
- suddenly at 21 BAAM! you put him with complete access to beer,
- night-clubs and let him walk in the streets where the members of the
- opposite sex (both male and female) are provokatively dressed-infact so
- much as to drive the person into confusion.
-
- Now I don't dislike bars, night-clubs, cable and nice looking people, but
- a person with no experience just does not know how to handel this new
- "world". Educating our youth or atleast letting them express their sexual
- emotions, desires and even letting the relieve them would at least allow
- them not to grow to be mass-rapist or such.
-
- But how do you go about that? Well judging from the opposition you will
- recieve from parents (just watch the response here!) you should try to
- organize a "after school" or such program, in which parents with open
- minds and students interested (though I don't think that will be a
- problem) are contacted and tought. Good Luck!
-
-
- The opinions stated above are mine, and if you don't like them I invite
- to change my mind!
