  28. Adam, I'd dump it, or demand that they give you the card for free
  29. (I'll take your bonus dollars, though :-).  With so many free gold
  30. cards out there, there's no reason to pay for one.

  32. I've had a free Chase Gold Visa for about 3 years now.  No problems so
  33. far.  It's not the same deal as you (Adam) had - it's free for life,
  34. no catches.

  40. Agreed - Chase's customer service is very good, although you do
  41. sometimes have to wait on hold for a few minutes (but I just put my
  42. phone's speaker on and go about my work).

  47. Hmmm...my wife and I have had a different experience than you,

  50. We don't have shared accounts.  She has a Chase Mastercard (not gold),
  51. I have a Chase gold visa.  We both have been earning bonus dollars
  52. for a few years.  They recently (about 6 months ago) sent a bonus
  53. dollars catalog with things you can get for free (this deal may have
  54. been limited to the NYC area, however).  We got a free dinner cruise
  55. for two for 7500 points.  This was only for her card (note that she
  56. doesn't have the gold card).  I didn't get anything like that, but
  57. they let us combine points.

  59. Just over the weekend she got a new deal - a free flight for 10000
  60. points, or a free companion flight for 7500 (there was also the usual
  61. discounts, which we ignored).  The deal for the Visa Gold was a free
  62. flight with 15000 points.  I can't for the life of me figure out
  63. why they'll let us combine points, but don't give me (with the gold
  64. card) the same deals as her, unless I know about them.  She has used
  65. her card a lot more than I have, though, and she's also had it longer
  66. than I've had mine.
