- The alarm company I have does not investigate anything except by phone.
- They call the house (for a secret password in case it's a false alarm),
- then the police/fire, then call people on a list you have given them in
- advance. BTW the alarm company contracts the monitoring to some central
- service who is located God knows where. The alarm company itself
- handles maintenance & wiring, and when I priced the monitoring fee this
- turned out to be the difference. The company I choose was moderately
- low priced but seemed very cooperative in terms of inspecting the system
- and connecting it up the alarm to a phone, and were very knowledgeable
- about the brand of alarm (we bought the house with the alarm in it but
- not monitored). Other companies were cheaper per month but wanted $$$
- for inspection, hookup, etc.
