- Spread the word about another band of criminals running
- door to door. This one is called Chapel Sales, Inc.
- (nice name, eh? inspires trust) and is out of New Jersey.
-
- They come door to door across the country and sell you
- magazine subscriptions. How could you lose, right?
- I mean, you know what a magazine is...
-
- The problem is, they take your deposit (50%), and in
- 2-3 weeks, you send the rest of the payment (50%).
-
- Then, you never see your magazines. Try calling their
- customer assistance number? It's busy? Try using a
- demon dialer, dialing the line every 15 seconds. Hmmm...
- it almost seems like the phone is off the hook (except
- for outside business hours, where it is attached to
- an outgoing message answering machine).
-
- I have already written the BBB of New Jersey, but they don't
- seem particularly interested in doing much other than filing
- my letter. I may just sue out of principle (anybody know
- a principled lawyer?)
-
- Oh, I should mention that I wrote the company to try to
- cancel the order, but the purchase agreement said you
- could only cancel the order within 72 hours of signing
- it (and I don't see how you could when the phone is busy)
-
- If anyone catches these people outside your front door,
- reach immediately for your baseball bat.
