- I have heard that a tactic renters sometimes use is to approach the
- landlord while he's on the grounds or out doing maintenance, and try to
- pay the rent with big bills that are deliberately not exact change.
- When the landlord refuses the cash, the renter can later claim in court
- during the eviction proceedings that he has attempted to pay the rent
- and been refused.
