  13. In December I posted about a corelle dish that shattered in the
  14. microwave while heating pizza on it. I wrote to Corning, and
  15. wanted to share some of the information I got. Also, about
  16. 4 days after the original breakage, I had a bowl break into 3
  17. pieces when I was making instant oatmeal in it one morning.
  18. The reply letter included a 'use and care' guide with it, as
  19. well as warranty information. Apparently, they only warranty
  20. free replacement for 1 year after purchase. 'Although Corelle
  21. dinnerware is resistant to chipping and breaking, it is a glass
  22. product. A drop or knock against a hard object may cause the
  23. dinnerware to break on impact or cause it to be more susceptible to
  24. breakage at a later time'. Also, the booklet had instructions for
  25. loading the dishwasher, basically saying not to let the dishes come
  26. into contact with each other.
