  15. Hello all,
  16.   I am attempting to obtain as much information or opinions as possible
  17. regarding peoples thoughts on the value of MAGNET schools. Schools that
  18. offer either highly specialized courses or courses which are for one
  19. reason or another, such as limited enrollment at a single school but
  20. high enrollment at a centralized district site, valuable in that context
  21. for providing and filling an overall need within a school district.
  22.   I have run a random in district survey of opinions and I would like
  23. to contrast that with opinions of educators around the country. This
  24. particular MAGNET school services the needs of eleven high schools and
  25. provides courses for not only college bound students but also vocational
  26. and technical training courses. As examples, everything from computer
  27. related courses (data-entry training through business to advanced place-
  28. ment), building trades (general construction through cabinet making),
  29. word-processing (court reporting through advanced word-processing tech-
  30. niques), advanced classical and modern languages (Latin to Hebrew to
  31. Japanese to Spanish to Russian, etc.),  pre-med, A.P. calculus/fortran,
  32. A.P. physics, A.P. chemistry, aviation science, astronomy, an LPN course
  33. which has a high school student qualified for their Licensed Practical
  34. Nursing Certificate upon H.S. graduation, nursing assistant and homebound
  35. aide program, etc.
  36.   This is an important topic for us as we would like to make the program
  37. even better and we need input from all sources to do so. 
  38.   Unfortunately we need to present this Friday; January 15 so any opinions
  39. you could send my way would be appreciated and forwarded on to the appro-
  40. priate people as soon as they are received. If you could EMail to me at
  41. me address below it would help to save a great deal of time but I will
  42. also followup on the conferences.
