  14. I could be wrong, because I don't actually have a copy and the term "PD" is
  15. sometimes used rather loosely, but I think the Sozobon C compiler (for Atari
  16. ST) is Public Domain.

  18. I also note that the documentation for the (shareware) Gemini desktop includes
  19. source-level patches for known bugs in this compiler, illustrating the classic
  20. problem of PD software - no "owner" who makes it his business to fix bugs and
  21. integrate patches.  (As a registered user of Gemini I expect and get this from
  22. the authors).

  24. Of course Gemini also includes patches for TOS - but at least we have Atari to
  25. collect all the PD patches off the networks and sell them back as the latest
  26. TOS release...
