- We have just upgraded to Motif1.2 and are having some problems
- with widget geometry. Applications that use only Motif widgets
- seem to work fine, however we are using some special purpose widgets
- and contributed widgets that worked when mixed with Motif1.1 widgets,
- that are acting very strangely now. Symptoms are:
-
- On startup, unless the geometry resource is explicitly set,
- the window manager sizes the application to be just large enough to
- enclose the menu bar. Under Motif1.1, it properly enclosed the
- application with the widgets at their desired sizes.
-
- A large widget with a specified size used within a form widget
- adjacent to a Motif widget obscures the Motif widget in one case, and
- in another case the Motif widget is resized to be the same size as the
- large widget. Under Motif1.1, the large widget was sized properly in
- both cases.
-
- The non-Motif widgets used here are simple widgets subclassed off of
- Core. None of them have a QueryGeometry method.
-
- Has anyone else seen this problem and (hopefully) resolved it? The
- release notes for Motif1.2 say that geometry management has been changed
- extensively, but does not say how this might affect other widgets that
- want to coexist with the Motif widgets.
-
- We are using X11R5 patch level 21, Motif 1.2.1.
