- I am trying to get X up and running on my 486-33 Local bus with
- an Orchid Fahrenheit VLB card (local bus S3), and a CTX multiscan
- monitor. I am running Linux from the SLS series (believe kernel is
- 99). I can get X to come up by using either the mono server or
- the S3 server, but neither will recognize my video ram or clock
- speeds other than 25 and 28. The servers insist that I only have
- 16k video ram.
-
- When the display comes up using the S3 server, parts of the images are
- duplicated (in part) several times on the right side of the screen.
- Also, some of the fonts come out as garbage. This sounds like a
- symptom of the misread video ram...
-
- I could live with the Mono server, except for the clock situation.
- Very bad flicker. I have tried setting the clock speeds using the
- 'Clocks' command in the Xconfig (also tried 'Videoram 1024' for that
- matter), but it didn't help.
-
- I don't think these problems have anything to do with my clock settings.
- I've read ALL the information I could find about figuring them out and
- used the modegen spreedsheet. Has anyone had any experience setting
- up with this hardware or had similar problems? I'm running out of
- hair to pull, any help is GREATLY appreciated!
