- I'm having some trouble getting the Linux Xs3 server 0.2b to
- work with a new Actix GE32. Here is the deal. The timings in the
- Xconfig are solid. I worked em out for my old graphics card and the
- standard Linux X-server and I'm using the same clock speed with the
- new card. I also set my Virtual to 1024x768. The screen comes up
- centered and crisp, but it comes up crisply corrupted :-(. The left
- side of the screen is fine but windows on the left create artifacts on
- the right side of the screen. Or put another way, about midway across
- my screen the screen begins to repeat sleces of itself. I think you've
- probably seen something similar before.
-
- I'm pretty sure it's not a Horiz or vert timing problem. The
- picture is fine and sharply delineated at it's edges. I thought at
- first that it was the cache problem that arises when you have a
- virtual screen larger than 1024x768, but you can only write 1024x768
- in your Xconfig so many times; and I wrote it all over :-). Actually I
- still think that's what the problem is, but I don't know how to solve
- it.
-
- If someone knows what's up or if you have a working Xconfig
- for an Actix GE32, please mail it to me. Iv'e tried the one that came
- with the server, and that's also where I got the GE32 clocks. Oh,
- incidentally (or maybe not) my card has 2048k on it. I tried it with
- only 1024 tho and still no luck. Don't worry about the monitor timings
- in the Xconfig. I'm getting pretty expert at figuring that part out.
- Thanks for the help. Sorry if it's ITFM.
