- There is a possible conflict between the default port number for
- the font server (7000) and other services. According to the
- "Assigned Numbers RFC" from the Internet Assigned Numbers Authority,
- 7000 conflicts with the ports listed as being registered to the Andrew File
- System, which is part of OSF/DCE. It seems to me that this might cause
- conflict on systems using both DCE and a font server.
-
- I realize that the font server port is configurable, but it seems to me that
- the default should avoid confrontation. Is this a problem, or am I making
- a mountain out of a molehill?
-
- While we're at it, shouldn't the X server port (6000) also be registered
- here?
-
- Please reply via email as I don't usually read this newsgroup.
