  13. I was following for some time discussion about ethical correctness of
  14. Fred Cohen's virus creation. It seems to me that most of dilemmas
  15. arises from different understanding of term computer virus. I am
  16. relatively new on this list, so don't know if the definition of
  17. computer virus was properly discus- sed earlier and if some general
  18. definition was accepted. If was I would like to know which one. I saw
  19. different definitions in literature (I looked in the VIRUS-L FAQ too
  20. :-))and would like to sublime what I've read till now in following
  21. statement :

  23.       Computer virus is set of instruction written with intention to
  24. cause some unwanted function in system in which is currently situated.
  25. Virus has ability of reproduction, it can propagate through different
  26. media, may evolve over time and can mutate.

  28. Is that correct definition ? I would really like to know one which
  29. wouldn't lead to misunderstandings.
