  15. Nothing has to be linked into the kernel for floppy support.  To re-create
  16. the floppy devices, you can login as "root" and enter the following command:

  18.     # /etc/fixperm -cs -d RTS /etc/perms/inst
  19.  
  20. This will create the "special" device files in the RTS package, and among
  21. them are your floppy devices.  You could also read the fd(HW) manual pages,
  22. which tells you how to go about creating the device files.

  24. BTW, the "mkdev fd" command doesn't create floppy devices for you -- it
  25. creates a bootable/rootable disk (set) so that you can bring your system up
  26. from floppies in case of emergency.
