  17. According to my Interactive Unix manual, rmtab "is used only to preserve 
  18. information between crashes and is read only by mountd(1M) when it starts up.
  19. The mountd command keeps an in-core table, which it uses to handle requests 
  20. from programs like showmount(1) and shutdown(1M)."

  22. The problem appears to lie in clearing the "in-core" table. Deleteing the 
  23. contents of /etc/rmtab has no effect.
