  26. So far, I've only had responses from Kevin Long (who provided general advice
  27. on NFS exports/mounting) and Mike Iglesias who basically said "it can't be
  28. done".  Thanks guys.

  30. As I've had no comments to the contrary, I must admit defeat (although I'm
  31. not happy about it).  Considering the functionality provided by every other
  32. version of UNIX I've seen (including SunOS, IRIX, AIX, HP-UX, BSD4.[23]),
  33. this is a ridiculous limitation.  Just as a point of interest, has DEC fixed
  34. this in later releases of the OS?  It won't help me as we're still bound to
  35. 4.2A by other software we're running but I'd be interested to find out.
