  12. (Machine = DecStn 5000/200 - Ultrix 4.2)
  13. I just needed to install the Ultrix 4.2 packetfilter patches pfilt.o and
  14. net_common.o so I installed them...
  15.  
  16. While I was at it I thought I would install the lk201 Keyboard "b6" error
  17. problem patches, ibt431.o, bt455.o, lk201.o and ws_device.o as well...
  18.  
  19. And increase the number of pseudo ttys (to 4 lots of 16) so I also did the
  20. MAKEDEV for the new pty/tty groups.

  22. I made sure the following were in the Kernel config file...
  23.  
  24. options        PACKETFILTER
  25.  
  26. pseudo-device     pty 4
  27.  
  28. pseudo-device    packetfilter
  29.  
  30. and rebuilt the kernel, which happened with no errors, then rebooted with the
  31. "new" kernel.
  32.  
  33. Once booted everything seemed ok, except any telnet connection attempt resulted
  34. in "All network ports in use" .
  35.  
  36. However only I was logged in from an Xterm on ttyp0, ttyp1, ttyp2 & ttyp3 so
  37. I logged off from ttyp0 & tried a telnet again - It worked ! but any subsequent
  38. did not (note that the rest of the ttyp's were unused at the time)
  39.  
  40. I know I should never have changed so many things at once, but my users don't
  41. like the machine going up & down all the time testing kernels ;-) I suppose I
  42. will have to try each change individually until it goes wrong again, unless...

  44. Anyone seen this before ?
  45. Do I have to stick with the number of pseudo ttys I already have ?
