- We are having problems getting our Suns to recognize our
- aliases we have setup on our DECstations. On the DECstations
- I can setup mail aliases by editing the file
-
- yp_master:/usr/var/yp/yp_domainanme/mail.aliases
-
- and adding entries like
-
- j_detter jldetter
-
- I then make aliases and the DECs can mail to j_detter.
-
- This however hangs on the Suns.
-
- The Suns are YP clients to the DECstations.
-
- If I add the alias to the suns /etc/aliases file as
- j_detter:jldetter it works fine.
-
- If I change the mail.aliases file to the form
- j_detter:jldetter
-
- the DEC works fine, but the sun still hangs.
-
- I have several questions
-
- 1. It looks like the DEC is making the mail.aliases look
- like the alises file, is this true?
-
- 2. Is there some sendmail switch that I need to add to the
- sendmail processes on the suns to fix this?
-
- 3. Could I accomplish this with MX records in BIND instead?
-
- 4. Is mail.aliases a DEC thing or does YP normally contain this?
