- Yeah, DEC has had such a mechanism for a while as well. And, on the
- Sun front this has been one of the more frequent complaint about their
- OS. Oh well...at least they eventually got around to fixing it. :-)

- No reboot is necessary for the change to take effect. But some daemons
- and such may not see the change until you either restart them or
- reboot. I suspect that this was true on MIPS as well.
