- We are trying to get NFS and Yellow Pages running across a heterogenous Unix
- network consisting of DECstations (ULTRIX), HPs (HP-UX), Stardent GS's
- (Stellix), and Stardent Vistras (AT&T System V).
-
- We've had some success but are having a problem getting Yellow Pages to work
- on the Stardent Vistras. They are running AT&T System V Release 4 Unix.
- From what I can see, Yellow Pages appears to be unsupported in System V as
- there is no documentation that I can find either online or in the AT&T manual
- set. However, we've done what we thought was right (there are no AT&T Unix
- experts here) yet Yellow Pages won't function. When I type `ypwhich', I get
- a "domain not bound" error.
-
- Here's what we did:
-
- 1) Set up a master server and 2 slave servers. These work fine
- when serving the ULTRIX and Stardent GS machines.
- 2) Ensured that `ifconfig' properly sets the network mask and
- broadcast address on the Vistra.
- 3) Used `domainname' to declare the proper domain name, i.e. the one
- being served by the master and slave servers.
- 4) Ran `ypbind'. It seems to start successfully as there are no errors.
-
- Yet we still get "domain not bound" errors. We also tried:
-
- 5) Running `ypinit' and giving it the names of the Yellow Pages
- servers. I'm not sure if we need this command as we weren't familiar
- with it from other versions of Yellow Pages.
- 6) Rebooted several times.
-
- Can anyone help us with this problem? Please email to me.
-
- Thanks!
-
- P.S. For those who don't know, the Vistras come from Stardent which went
- bankrupt last January. Thus, we have no support for them.
