  13. We are trying to get NFS and Yellow Pages running across a heterogenous Unix 
  14. network consisting of DECstations (ULTRIX), HPs (HP-UX), Stardent GS's 
  15. (Stellix), and Stardent Vistras (AT&T System V).

  17. We've had some success but are having a problem getting Yellow Pages to work
  18. on the Stardent Vistras. They are running AT&T System V Release 4 Unix.
  19. From what I can see, Yellow Pages appears to be unsupported in System V as
  20. there is no documentation that I can find either online or in the AT&T manual
  21. set. However, we've done what we thought was right (there are no AT&T Unix 
  22. experts here) yet Yellow Pages won't function. When I type `ypwhich', I get 
  23. a "domain not bound" error.

  25. Here's what we did:
  26.  
  27.     1) Set up a master server and 2 slave servers. These work fine
  28.        when serving the ULTRIX and Stardent GS machines.
  29.     2) Ensured that `ifconfig' properly sets the network mask and
  30.        broadcast address on the Vistra.
  31.     3) Used `domainname' to declare the proper domain name, i.e. the one
  32.        being served by the master and slave servers.
  33.     4) Ran `ypbind'. It seems to start successfully as there are no errors.

  35. Yet we still get "domain not bound" errors. We also tried:

  37.     5) Running `ypinit' and giving it the names of the Yellow Pages 
  38.        servers. I'm not sure if we need this command as we weren't familiar
  39.        with it from other versions of Yellow Pages.
  40.     6) Rebooted several times.

  46. P.S. For those who don't know, the Vistras come from Stardent which went
  47.      bankrupt last January. Thus, we have no support for them.
