- We have presently a network of sun running version 4.1.2 and
- we are using the netgroup to decide which user could log on a
- particular machine. We have bought an IPC to do the Solaris 2.1
- testing before trying to install it on all the network machines. I
- have installed it with the NIS client option. In the online
- documentation (AnswerBook, since sun didn't deliver the paper
- documentation yet) I have found that I need to modify the nsswich.conf
- file so that the passwd and group lines look like this:
-
- passwd: compat
- group: compat
-
- Before I had change those 2 lines every users that where define in the
- NIS passwd map could log on the machine but they have to reenter there
- password (I didn't found yet the equivalence for the host.equiv file).
- After I had change it and put "+@staff:" at the end of the passwd file
- and "+" at the end of the group file, I have try a series of command
- which give strange result:
-
- finger userid : work perfectly if the user is member of the staff group
- su userid : give this error message: "su: Unknown id: userid"
- login userid : always give me login incorrect.
-
- What should I do to have it trust all the machine in my network which
- are define in a netgroup and also how could I configure it to support
- the netgroups in the passwd file?
-
- Thanks
