  15.     We have presently a network of sun running version 4.1.2 and
  16. we are using the netgroup to decide which user could log on a
  17. particular machine. We have bought an IPC to do the Solaris 2.1
  18. testing before trying to install it on all the network machines. I
  19. have installed it with the NIS client option. In the online
  20. documentation (AnswerBook, since sun didn't deliver the paper
  21. documentation yet) I have found that I need to modify the nsswich.conf
  22. file so that the passwd and group lines look like this:

  27. Before I had change those 2 lines every users that where define in the
  28. NIS passwd map could log on the machine but they have to reenter there
  29. password (I didn't found yet the equivalence for the host.equiv file).
  30. After I had change it and put "+@staff:" at the end of the passwd file
  31. and "+" at the end of the group file, I have try a series of command
  32. which give strange result:

  34. finger userid : work perfectly if the user is member of the staff group
  35. su userid     : give this error message: "su: Unknown id: userid"
  36. login userid  : always give me login incorrect.

  38. What should I do to have it trust all the machine in my network which
  39. are define in a netgroup and also how could I configure it to support
  40. the netgroups in the passwd file?
