- No. It's kind of like a mix of V7, SysVR2 and Minix... <grin>
- It's binary compatible with SVR3.2 Intel Unix if you don't use graphics
- or shared memory.
-
- Those two thing should be in v4.1 along with Virtual Memory and TCP/IP.
-
- Does it /Will it have TCP/IP support??
-
- See above...

-
- It's pretty good for a cheap Unix. No 64k memory limitation.
-
- It's got a C compiler thats K&R (Gnu stuff is available from MWC or you
- can port it yourself).
-
- It's make was lousy - but they fixed that.
-
- It can read/write dos disks (so you can move files to and from your dos
- partition.)
-
- It's a bit rough at some spots - the getty/init stuff need updating to
- SVR3.x from the V7 stuff they're using.
-
- If you want an inexpensive "Unix" it isn't bad. If you want System V
- you've got to pay big bucks. If you want System V rel 4 you need
- bigger bucks. Coherent can run on a 20 meg partition with under
- 4 megs of memory. Try that with SVR4.
-
- If you're interested in hacking OS source and have internet access
- Linux and 386BSD are other options - but you lose the binary compatibility.
-
- Also try comp.os.coherent, comp.unix.bsd, comp.os.linux for more info...
